Mechanical Technician

???? Location: Bartonville/ Peoria, IL

???? Department: Maintenance - Rod Mill

???? Hourly Wage: $27.00-$35.00/hour + OT Opportunities

???? Schedule: Full-time | Must be available for various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Join our team as Mechanical Technician!

Are you a skilled mechanical troubleshooter with a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Do you have experience repairing complex machinery in a heavy industrial setting? If so, we want YOU on our team!

What You'll Do:

• ✅ Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems on rod mill equipment including rod blocks, cooling beds, shears, coilers, straighteners, roughing mills, finishing mills, laying heads, pinch rolls, and conveyors.

• ✅ Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, calibration, and scheduled overhauls.

• ✅ Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes, PLC analyzers, thermal imaging, and ultrasonic detectors.

• ✅ Rebuild and refurbish components including bearings, gears, motors, pumps, rollers, spindles, drives, couplings, and hydraulic actuators.

• ✅Maintain accurate maintenance records including work orders, PM logs, and RCA documentation.

• ✅Collaborate with engineering, operations, and planning teams to streamline maintenance processes and improve equipment reliability.

• ✅ Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term corrective actions.

• ✅ Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

• ✅ Mentor and train junior maintenance staff as needed.

W hat We're Looking For:

????Experience: Minimum 5+ years of industrial machine repair experience, ideally in a rod mill or heavy industrial setting.
???? Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical school/apprenticeship preferred.
???? Skills:

• Expert knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals

• Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and tools.

• Welding, machining, or electrical certification preferred

• Strong communication skills and team-focused mindset
