Location: Houlton Regional Hospital

Hospital Location: Houlton, Maine

Brief Description:  Houlton is a town in and the county seat of Aroostook County, Maine, on the Canada-United States border. It is perhaps best known for being at the northern terminus of Interstate 95.

Credentialing: 30-90days 

Schedule: 7-10, 24-hour shifts/month 

Call: 24/7 call coverage

Details: Critical Access Hospital 

• ICU Beds: 0; Up to 4 Intermediate Care Beds located within Acute Care Unit

• Acute Beds: 19 with occasional medical overflow on the LDRP Unit

Observation:  

• Swing Beds: Intermingled with 19 Acute Care Unit beds
• Average Daily Census: 14
• Max Census: 25
• Average Daily Discharges: 2
• Avg LOS: 4.02, 3.46 (excluding DWP), rolling average 4.93, 3.73 (excluding DWP)
• Swing Bed: 12
• Avg. Weekly Admissions: About 24 admissions to Inpatients, Observations and Swing per week

 
Acuity:  CHF, COPD, Pneumonia, DKA

Subspecialty Support:  Neurology (Outpt. clinic only), General Surgery, &Anesthesia

Anesthesia is in house M-F  from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with after hours and weekend call.

General Surgery is available most weeks M-Th. Limited after-hours coverage. There is no weekend coverage for General Surgery.

Experience + Qualifications  

Minimum 1 years of experience practicing autonomously

Vent Management

Central Lines

Lumbar Puncture

Paracentesis/Thoracentesis

Intubations

Active ME License  or the ability to obtain 

Compensation & Benefits  

Independent Contractor (1099) 

Malpractice Insurance Covered by RPG 

Providers have a private office space as well as space with private bathroom and shower

o Linens and housekeeping provided

Providers are provided 3 full meals a day from the dietary department. 

wRVU model:

- Base - $1,800/shift

-Travel - $100/shift

-Eligible for Prime

wRVU Threshold –18 average over the quarter

wRVU payment - $29.69 for any wRVUs generated (Average is 18 so you would be looking at around an additional $534.42+ per shift)
