Job Description

Soundview Consultants (SVC), a Trinity Consultants team, is a respected environmental firm with over 15 years of service in the Pacific Northwest. We specialize in land and marine use planning, permitting, and ecological assessments near wetlands, streams, and shorelines. Our team supports diverse clients across the Puget Sound region with expertise, integrity, and a collaborative spirit.

Soundview Consultants is looking to add a full-time Senior Consulting Arborist to our team in Gig Harbor, Washington. The Senior Consulting Arborist conducts tree risk assessments, prepares arborist documentation, and supports multidisciplinary environmental projects in the Pacific Northwest region. Responsibilities include tree identification, regulatory research, client communication, and scientific reporting. This role requires ISA certification, strong technical writing skills, and expertise in arboriculture consulting.

What will I be doing?

  • Perform fieldwork including individual tree assessments and large-scale tree inventories.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel for data entry and analysis (DBH, dripline, critical root zone, tree health metrics).
  • Prepare tree assessment reports and arborist documentation with high scientific writing standards.
  • Conduct background research on local regulatory codes and provide analytical findings.
  • Support wetland, habitat, and shoreline projects with report drafting and fieldwork.
  • Communicate with clients and deliver expert recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during field activities.
  • Maintain organized and accurate field notes and project records.

What qualifications are required for this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arboriculture, Environmental Sciences, Planning, or related field required.
  • International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist
  • ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) preferred or in progress.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional arboriculture consulting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Pacific Northwest tree identification.
  • Experience in tree canopy assessment and analysis.
  • Familiarity with ANSI A300 standards and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and GIS/tree inventory software (preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The wage range for this position is $35-$45.00 per hour.
